Tapping Into Your Natural Vitality Program

Have you ever felt really lazy? What I mean is, you’re just unable get your enthusiasm program running. It happens to everyone from time to time. But there are times when we can’t afford to be sluggish.

It’s easy to be passionate about familiar and fun things but people often go into lackadaisical moods when they face untested challenges. Take cold calling sales prospects for example. Some people just freeze up with apprehension and anxiety when making cold calls or any other unfamiliar task.

This piece isn't about making cold calls. That’s just an example I’m using to make a point. And the point is, we all face challenges that cause us to stall from time to time. But I’ve discovered a really simple strategy for overcoming the obstacles life throws in front of us from time to time. The method is a simple exercise that utilizes the power of waking hypnosis.

The first step in this exercise is to find a comfortable and quiet place to sit for a few minutes. Now think of a time that you were totally and completely joyous, a time when you were so full of energy and enthusiasm that you were bursting at the seams. Allow those feelings of joy and happiness and energy to wash through you, permeating every cell in your body. Okay, hold that thought and read on.

Waking Hypnosis
We can access as much enthusiasm, confidence, vitality or any other resourceful state we want at will. All we need to do to achieve the state is to have experienced it in the past. With the help of waking hypnosis, we can easily call up that state and substitute it for any unresourceful state we may be experiencing at any given moment. From this moment on say goodbye to apathy and lethargy. You’ll have two simple techniques available to move from indifference to exuberance.

Hand Rise Method
Here’s what you need to do: Sit comfortably in a chair with your back straight, your palms down on your thighs, and your feet flat on the floor. Now, raise your left hand from your thigh into the air as slowly as humanly possible. That’s the first part of the technique.

What this does is keeps your conscious mind occupied. It takes concentration to do this and while your conscious mind is occupied with the exercise, you’re going to slip into a state of vitality. I’m asking you to raise your left hand because it requires more concentration to do this with your non-dominant hand than with your dominant. If you’re left handed, raise your right hand instead.

Before I reveal the part where you actually change your state I want to give you an alternative to the hand raise.

Eye Roll Method
Sit comfortably in a chair with your back straight and your hands folded in your lap. Close your eyes and with them closed, try and look up toward your forehead. Continue this until it’s time to finish. This method also keeps the conscious mind busy while you access a natural state of vitality.

Choose one of the methods. I’d suggest you pick the one that seems most difficult or annoying because that one will best occupy the conscious mind and allow this simple self-hypnosis technique to change your day.

As soon as you are using the method of choice refer to the memory I had you recall above. Go with it. Let it fill your entire being. And while you allow that vitality to enter your being, continue to do the hand raise or eye roll. You can stop after you’ve fully relived the resourceful memory.

This exercise usually takes only a couple of minutes. You’ll naturally know when to stop. When you rise from the chair you feel totally renewed. This is a great method to employ any time you need a boost. Be well.
