Reset Your Mindset With Guided Meditation
New words make it into the language all the time. Sometimes
it's hard to keep track of them all. I remember when I first heard the word mindset. I remember feeling the word was special. It pretty much refers to someone's attitude or approach to something specific or to life itself. So, how's yours? The self help gurus talk about having a healthy and consistent mindset. They say consistency in everything is the key to success. And I'd agree 100 percent. The problem is, living life in a hectic world can get in the way of a great attitude or mindset.
Books, Movies And More...
There are lots of things we can do to stay on course though.
One is to read inspiring books and watch encouraging movies. One of my favorites is Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. If you haven't seen it, it would be worth your while to. It's about a sarcastic guy who finally understands the whole world doesn't revolve around him. It's a bit of science fiction, fantasy, romance and intrigue all rolled into one film. Another truly inspiring movie is Sister Act with Whoopi Goldberg. It's about a group of nuns who become inspired by the most unlikely character. But I don't want to turn this into a movie review piece.
What do you do to keep your attitude healthy? I sometimes read, I often write out my thoughts as I'm doing here and I sometimes listen to inspiring recordings. I've spent thousands of dollars on motivational seminars and workshops over the years. And I have to say it was money well spent. I got something positive from each and every one. Many of these seminars offered take-home materials for sale and I often bought one or more audio programs.
Go Inside With Guided Meditation...
I recently stumbled onto a set of recordings that has been very
inspirational for me. They're guided meditation audios in MP3
format. There are five topics included in the set. One of my favorites in this collection is "Quiet Mind." One of the things messing with your own good attitude is the stuff you say to yourself all day long. You know what I mean. You're going along and make a mistake and say something to yourself like, stupid! Or, you never get things right, or any number of not so flattering things.
How do we overcome this type of negative self talk? There are many ways to go about it. One is to simply sit and be still, completely still. That means no movement and no thought. Try it
sometime. You'd think that not thinking would be easy but if you really give it a try you're probably going to find your mind is quite the chatterbox. And it's often chattering about things that don't serve you.
