Affiliate Marketing Free Traffic Tricks
Regardless of what you’re promoting online the lifeblood of any marketing
campaign is getting targeted visitors to your offer. When I speak of targeted
visitors I’m referring to people who are interested in what you’re selling.
In this article we’ll be looking at a couple of free methods of driving
targeted visitors to your site.
Search Engine Optimization, SEO
Before going into specifics I first want to mention the importance of
tailoring all of your marketing efforts so they are most attractive to search
engines. In the business this is referred to as search
engine optimization or SEO for short. SEO is the wise use of keywords and
phrases that are most likely to be used in searching for your stuff.
Of course, using keywords efficiently is only one method of search engine
optimization. The many SEO methods available to marketers could fill volumes so
we’ll only touch upon those as they directly relate to our specific free
traffic strategies in promoting affiliate products.
Article Marketing
One of the most solid marketing strategies available to anyone promoting
affiliate products online is article marketing. This particular approach also
significantly lends itself to the wise use of SEO. Search engine crawlers have
many standards they use to rate and rank Web pages. One that is high on the list
is that they seek out quality content. This is where you can score with article
marketing.
There are two main SEO approaches to consider with article marketing. One is
to write articles that will rank high and show up on the first or second page of
a search using keywords relative to the article topic, your product. This one
has obvious benefits as searchers will have the opportunity to click directly on
a link pointing to your site.
The objective of the second approach is to submit as many articles to article
sites as possible. Each of these articles will have at least one link within it
pointing back to the Website of the promoter. Search engines look favorably at
sites and pages that have lots of links (called backlinks) from other sites
pointing to them. As you increase the number of backlinks pointing to your site,
you also increase its search result position. It’s my belief that you should
write your articles to capitalize on both the quality content benefit and the
backlink benefit.
Viral Marketing
Viral marketing is a simple yet powerful tool you can use to promote your
affiliate offer. The whole concept is based upon a virus being passed from one
user to another. In the case of online promotions the idea is to create a free
report, ebook, course, software or something else with a high perceived value
and encourage the recipient to either pass it along to a friend or associate
directly or to point people to where they can easily get it. This is the word of
mouth concept adapted for the digital age.
The way this benefits you is that you’ve included your own offers within
the freebie. When a user sees your link in the piece she is encouraged to click
to get more information. Ideally, this leads to sales.
The trick to having a successful viral marketing campaign is to offer
something with excellent value. Many marketers miss this point entirely and
create giveaways that are little more than digital commercials for all kinds of
stuff. Most people don’t mind seeing offers within a free report but resent
having gone to the trouble of downloading the material only to suffer through ad
after ad after ad.
By contrast, when people see that you’ve actually added significant value
to the piece they are far more open to check out your other products and
services. I like to think of it this way, make the user so excited about the
valuable free information they’ve received that they’ll absolutely be
chomping at the bit to buy your stuff. In even simpler terms, “If this guy is
giving this great info away, I can only imagine all the great value I’ll be
getting with an actual paid product…" Happy marketing!
